Interlock & stone
Walkways, patios and walls built on a base deep enough to survive frost heave.
What's involved
Most failed interlock in Ontario failed at the base, not the surface. We excavate to depth, lay and compact granular A in lifts, screed a bedding course, and only then set stone. Edge restraint goes in on every job. Polymeric sand is swept and set last. It costs more in the first week and saves the whole thing in year five.
Details
8 to 12 inches of compacted granular for walkways and patios; deeper for driveways.
Unilock, Techo-Bloc and Permacon product lines. Natural flagstone on request.
Segmental retaining walls with drainage stone and geogrid where height requires it.
A typical front walkway runs three to five days. Patios, one to two weeks.
