Lawn renovation

Sod, Seed & Grading

Fix the grade first. A new lawn over bad drainage is a new lawn that dies.

What's involved

Fix the grade first. A new lawn over bad drainage is a new lawn that dies.

If water sits against the foundation or pools in the middle of the yard, sod won't fix it. We shoot grades, regrade with fill and topsoil to move water away from the house, then lay fresh Kentucky bluegrass sod or overseed depending on what the lawn can be saved with. New sod needs daily water for two weeks — we'll tell you exactly how much.

  • Full sod replacement
  • Core aeration and overseeding
  • Drainage regrading and swales
  • Topsoil and levelling

Details

How we handle it.

Grading

Minimum 2% fall away from the foundation. Swales cut where water needs a path.

Topsoil

Screened triple-mix, four to six inches over the graded base.

Sod

Fresh-cut Ontario-grown Kentucky bluegrass, laid within 24 hours of harvest.

Overseeding

Where the lawn is 60% viable, core aeration and overseeding beats a full replacement.
